A Fun Approach To Ramadan
When researching, I noticed that Ramadan graphics usually had a serious and classy tone. So, for this project, I wanted to bring in The Children's Place's fun and bold style to create a campaign that makes Ramadan feel joyous and captures the essence of togetherness, family traditions, and the special bonding that comes with the holiday.
Type Treatment
Ramadan spans a single lunar month in the Islamic calendar, and the design's partial filling and outlining of text mirror the phases of the full and new moon, underscoring the moon's pivotal role in holiday.
Pattern
Patterns are a vital element in Islamic art, and we aimed to incorporate them in this project as a distinctive visual reference to both Ramadan and Islamic cultures. We researched and selected an existing pattern, which we then simplified to align with our project's aesthetics and transformed it into a versatile Illustrator pattern.
Illustration
Chunky stars and moons are scattered throughout the project, giving a nod to the handcrafted decorations often used during the holiday celebrations. Their oversized presence in the window display adds a playful touch, evoking a sense of childlike wonder and making viewers feel small by comparison.
